Wild Woodmancote Group

Woodmancote resident Paul has set up a Facebook Group for people to join and share their wildlife sightings, observations and photos/videos and also to get those mystery flora and fauna identified. He has been living in the area for many years and has had the pleasure of seeing quite a few rare, declining and notable species including Rugged Oil Beetles, Downland Villa Bee Fly, Dotted Bee Fly, Red Kites, Big-headed Mining Bees, Brown Hares, Skylarks, Yellowhammers, Orchids and Fungi etc. Most of these are benefiting from the ‘farming with nature‘ practices of the Robinson family and other local landowners, but also with some help from residents in the village in their wildlife friendly gardens and outdoor spaces too.

The group plans to launch a few projects for the benefit local wildlife (and people) including a Hedgehog Street project in Woodmancote amongst other things. Why not join up and get involved, even if it’s just to post your nature snaps? Expertise not required, just a bit of interest in nature…
